The Spawn Universe is about to uncover whole new territory with the release of Bloodletter.
Per an exclusive press release from Image Comics, fans can learn more than ever before about the Spawn Universe's next supernatural hero - Tasha Thornwall. She is set to make her debut in the pages of Bloodletter #1 from writers Joseph P. Illidge and Tim Seeley and artist Christian Rosado. Tasha Thornwall was once an otherwise ordinary CIA operative, all until an encounter with Al Simmons forced her into the shadows. After living on the run for so long and discovering that Simmons is still alive in the form of Spawn, Tasha sets out on a quest for lethal revenge against the man who ruined her life, no matter how much more powerful he has become in the time since.

One of the most iconic (and important) X-Men storylines of all time is getting a whole new look this summer thanks to Marvel Comics.

"Bloodletter is about our hero, Tasha Thornwall, and how she uses the power of magic and secrets to fight through a world that constantly throws danger from Heaven and Hell at her," Illidge said of the series. "Working with my fellow brothers-in-arms—Tim and Christian—and using our magical combination of skills to show the fans the secret history of the Spawn Universe is just as wonderful and scary as it sounds. We can't wait to pull you into Tasha's world and never let go!"
Seeley offered fans his own take on Bloodletter, explaining that "At its core, this story is all about synthesis. For our lead, Tasha, it’s that combination of espionage and street magic that makes her an unkillable survivor in a world where guys like Spawn, Overtkill, and Violator walk. And the comic itself is a synthesis too, of Joe, Christian, and me, something totally new none of us would have concocted on our own."

This 28-Year-Old Horror Cult Classic With a 35% RT Score is Getting a Prequel Story
One of the most beloved sci-fi horror films of all time is getting a long-overdue prequel story courtesy of IDW Publishing.
"It's blood, magic, it's evil questioning itself, it's also love and redemption," Rosado added. "Tasha took on a life of her own, and what we do as a team is narrate it, chapter after chapter. In this transgressive and dark world, there's a new character who is a privilege to draw. Joe, Tim, and I have that mission—to make her struggle known and what she has to tell us."
While Bloodletter is set to carve its own decidedly unique path through the Spawn Universe, with the series already being compared to the likes of Witchblade, Something is Killing the Children, and Psylocke, it is noted that the upcoming series will remain very much grounded in the legacy that Spawn has established over the past three decades. This isn't all that surprising, as the past year has seen the wider Spawn Universe explode with the introduction of numerous new titles such as Violator, and even more to come as 2025 continues.
Bloodletter #1 will arrive in comic book stores everywhere on June 18 from Image Comics.
