Like the first story arc in the Annihilation saga, A: Conquest began with a one-shot prologue and was followed by two miniseries and a series launch (Nova) before we got the main, six-issue miniseries.
This mini is where Starlord becomes the guy we know from the movies, and starts to align with what becomes the new Guardians of the Galaxy.
In this series, we see Starlord gather his future teammates while trying to fight the Phalanx. Like Rocket Raccoon.
I was shocked when I read this to see that Bug–of the old Micronauts series–was on the team. Thus, this even has both Spaceknights and Micronauts in it. Also, I had group-tagged the Micronauts because I wasn’t aware that Marvel retained the rights to Bug so this series has his first individual character tag. For earlier appearance, you’ll have to look at the “Micronauts” tag. Sorry about that.
Also on the team is Groot, who is technically debuting here–but if you hit his character tag, below, you’ll find earlier appearances of Groots.
By the end of this story, Starlord’s team has been able to create a cure for the Phalanx infection.
