The following contains major spoilers for Venom War #5, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Marvel's Venom War has just given the original symbiote superhero a whole new look — and it is awesome.
Venom War #5 finds the battle between Eddie and Dylan Brock having reached a tragic turn, as the former was stabbed through the back by the latter. Fortunately, that is anything but a death sentence for the King in Black, and instead serves as a turning point for the fight at hand. It also opens Dylan up for what would be a lethal attack from Meridius, if only it weren't for the gilded bullet his older self unloads upon him first, leaving him encased in a gleaming, gilded symbiote suit that not even Carnage's All-Blood can cut through.

Marvel's Venom War event came as a result of the two very different yet unnervingly similar visions of the future that Eddie and Dylan Brock both witnessed during their time with the Eventuality. In the case of each, they saw a future torn apart by war and symbiotes that came as a result of the other maintaining their bond with the Venom symbiote. These futures seemed entirely unavoidable no matter who kept ahold of Venom, as even Peter Parker witnessed a world completely undone by his own bond with the symbiote.
Apart from the Eddie and Dylan fans know best, multiple versions of each of them were drawn into the ongoing conflict. For Eddie, it was his fellow Kings in Black, future iterations of himself, who stood at his side on the battlefield, save for the villainous Meridius, that is. For Dylan, an elder version of himself came back from the future in order to offer assistance, which isn't even to mention the likes of the Sleeper and Flexo symbiotes who chose to stand with the younger Brock from the very start.

The gold Venom suit that the younger Dylan currently wears was created after a long series of harrowing treks across various realms and dimensions. After hunting down and cutting a deal with the Dark Elder God Chthon, this elder Dylan was able to trade memories of his own life for a golden substance he couldn't quite comprehend. From there, it was just a trip to the darkest corners of the world to find Loki, who brought Dylan to a forge capable of refashioning the substance into a set of literal golden bullets.
