When I was doing some fill-in writing for ICv2 last month, I wrote about the upcoming release of The Exiled, a collection of a miniseries put out by Massive featuring the input and likeness of Wesley Snipes.
As part of the press release, the publisher mentioned that Snipes now held two Guinness World Records relating to his role as Blade, the vampire hunter. (Movies I’ve never seen, although I’ve been tempted to watch the third one, Blade: Trinity, with Ryan Reynolds, aka Deadpool.)
Snipes made a cameo as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine, which made him both the actor with the longest career as a Marvel character — his first and last Blade appearances were 25 years and 340 days apart — and the one with the longest gap between character appearances in Marvel films. He last played Blade 19 years and 231 days ago in Blade: Trinity; the previous record-holder was Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus in 2004 and 2021.
That first record, by the way, the previous holder was his movie co-star, Hugh Jackman, who has been playing Wolverine for 24 years, in spite of being taller than the canonical comic version.
