Wolverine: Origins #33-36 (2009): Weapon XI

You know that someone is out of ideas when they write a Wolverine story called, “Weapon XI.”  There have been SO MANY of these stories where the same/similar organization that tortured and created Wolverine does the same thing to someone else.

In this story, Wolverine learns more about his own past and Romolus’ plan is revealed: He wants to make Daken another Weapon-with-a-number-after-it.  There’s more nonsense about the Muramasa blade that can kill Wolverine (Daken coats his claws with it).

Everyone wants to kill Daken, even Cyclops, but Wolverine insists on saving his son.  Nevertheless, Daken stabs daddy and then runs off to play Wolverine as part of the Dark Avengers.

This same thing has already happened several times in this series: Wolverine catches up to his son, and Daken stabs him. It’s just not that dramatic anymore.

Daken seems to be able to beat up everyone. He’s ridiculously capable.

I mean, ridiculous to the point of just being dumb.

With Daken now being one of Osborn’s superheroes, Logan chooses to keep hunting Romulus.  Yes, the Romulus story is STILL not resolved.  Because instead of finding the boss, Wolverine finds Victor Hudson.

He’s a mute tank who likes to punch Wolverine.

Oh, and as for the Weapon XI referred to in the title?  It barely appears.  If you blink, you’ll miss it.  And it never comes back.

Yawn.
