This is a sequel of sorts to “Endsong.” It focuses on the Stepford Cuckoos.

The Phoenix Force contacts the Stepford Cuckoos and uses one as its new host. Before it lands with the Cuckoos, Emma senses its arrival.

The power of the Force the Cuckoos to overcome blocks on their abilities placed by Emma. Over the course of these issues, they learn their true origin. It turns out, they are all Emma Frost’s offspring–created from eggs harvested from Frost by John Sublime, who cloned literally thousands of Emmas as part of the Weapon Plus program.

As the secrets are revealed, Scott finds he doesn’t trust Emma.

There are several solid scenes between Scott and Emma in this series. Author Greg Pak as a good perspective on their relationship.

Once possessed by the Force, the Cuckoos become even more “mean girl” types.

Using the Phoenix power boost, the Cuckoos neutralize all the other clones around the world and the series ends with all three of the sisters serving as hosts to a third each of the Phoenix Force.

Along the way, the two dead Cuckoos get briefly zombified. Also, Quentin Quire awakens from his coma.

Overall, this is a good story and a solid deep dive into the Cuckoos. Certainly quite a bit of important stuff–it’s odd that a miniseries like this is more important than either of the X-Men’s ongoing titles.

I am a little tired of just about everything in the Xverse being tied to some kind of “Weapon [X/Pus/Etc.]” program, though. Minor quibble.
