Tron: Ares star Evan Peters names the one character he wants to keep playing well into his career on the silver screen.
Speaking to CBR during an interview ahead of the release of Tron: Ares, Peters was asked if any of his past characters would be worth playing over the next four decades, much like returning star Jeff Bridges has continued to portray Kevin Flynn throughout various entries in the Tron franchise. "For four decades? Quicksilver was pretty fun. The last interviewer was just talking about that. So that would be something fun. He kind of bops in and does a cool, fun visual effects sequence." When the subject of how much better visual effects will improve in just a fraction of that time, Peters added that the results of those efforts on screen would simply be "scary."
Peters made his debut as Quicksilver back in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past from director Bryan Singer. In the movie, Quicksilver played a key role in breaking Michael Fassbender's Erik Lehnsher, otherwise known as Magneto, out of his Pentagon prison. X-Men: Days of Future Past was both a critical and financial success upon its release, garnering rave reviews while bringing in more than $746 million at the box office against a budget of around $200 million. Peters returned to the role of Quicksilver just two years later for the follow-up film, X-Men: Apocalypse, which failed to impress neither critics nor audiences in the same ways as its predecessor.
While Peters appeared as Quicksilver in a brief cameo in 2018's Deadpool 2, it wasn't until 2021 that the X-Men star was given the chance to step into the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rather than portraying Quicksilver in 2021's WandaVision, however, Peters instead portrayed Ralph Bohner, an otherwise ordinary resident of Westview who was forced to play the role of Wanda's brother after falling under her influence. Peters reprised the role of Ralph Boehner in 2024's Agatha All Along starring Kathryn Hahn, which added a new unsettling layer to the character's already devastating story.
Evan Peters Can Be Seen In Tron: Ares
Peters is currently set to return to the silver screen for Tron: Ares. The long-awaited third entry in the Tron series, Tron: Ares, is set to mark a major turning point for the franchise as the sentient programs the films are so well-known for making their way into the real world. Leading that charge is Jared Leto's Ares, who is sent into the real world to carry out a mission that could change the face of the entire world. Tron: Ares also stars Peters as Julian Dillinger, the creator of Ares and leader of Dillinger Systems, Greta Lee as Eve Kim, the CEO of ENCOM who has set her sights on hunting down Flynn's Permanence Code, Hasan Minhaj as ENCOM CTO Ajay Singh, Gillian Anderson as Julain's mother, Elisabeth Dillinger, and Cameron Monaghan as the combat program known as Caius.
Tron: Ares is currently slated to arrive in theaters on Oct. 10.
