The following contains major spoilers for Psylocke #10, on sale August 20 from Marvel Comics.
One of the most capable X-Men of all time is about to become Japan's worst nightmare.
A preview of Psylocke #10 (by Alyssa Wong, Vincenzo Carratù, Fer Sifuentes-Sujo, and VC's Ariana Maher) from Marvel Comics drops readers into Kwannon's own mindscape, where the ethereal Lady in White lays claim to her mind and body. With Psylocke now entirely under her control, the Lady in White, or rather the Psylocke in White, is finally ready to go to war against The Hand. Unfortunately, doing so means unleashing an army of Yokai upon an unwitting Tokyo, and it is hard to imagine the rest of the city won't get caught up in all the horrifying action to come.

The Lady in White was first glimpsed in an unnamed cameo in the pages of Psylocke #5 by Alyssa Wong, Vincenzo Carratù, and Moises Hidalgo. At the time, Psylocke had only just defeated the murderous Taxonomist, otherwise known as Ty Haniver. After terrorizing Psylocke and her loved ones for months, Haniver finally managed to bring Psylocke into the walls of his sprawling estate, where he displayed his many patchwork creations. Unsurprisingly, Psylocked ultimately overcame Haniver's roving beasts, only to be immediately haunted by more literal specters in the wake of her encounter with the Taxonomist.
An immensely strong Yokai, a type of superpowered spirit, the Lady in White found the young Mitsuki on the verge of death after the girl escaped The Hand. Seeking revenge against her tormentors, Mitsuki was aided by the Lady in White and her fellow Yokai in murdering her way through The Hand's ranks in Kyoto, feeding on the souls of the fallen along the way. In a bid to add Psylocke's strengths to their efforts, the Lady in White targeted the young mutant Deathdream, using him to mark Psylocke as a potential future target for possession before being driven from her short-term host.
Since then, the Lady in White has preyed upon Kwannon's personal shortcomings and fears. Although Psylocke believed it was Mitsuki who had been haunting her, driving the mutant hero to once again make the trek to Japan in search of answers, it was only ever the Lady in White. And, with Psylocke once again within her reach and already marked from their last encounter, it was no effort whatsoever for the Lady in White to take possession of Psylocke as her latest superpowered mortal vessel.

Since their debut in 1963, Marvel's X-Men have been more than just another superhero team. While the team really hit its stride as the All New, All Different X-Men in 1975, Marvel's heroic mutants have always operated as super-outcasts, protecting a world that hates and fears them for their powers.
Key members of the X-Men include Professor X, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Wolverine, Iceman, Beast, Rogue, and Storm. Often framed as the world's second strongest superheroes, after the Avengers, they are nonetheless one of Marvel's most popular and important franchises.
