The following contains spoilers for Amazing X-Men #1, out next week from Marvel Comics
We have been hearing about the Age of Revelation for some time now, and now, finally, the Age is upon us! The former X-Man now known as Revelation has unleashed the X-Virus, killing millions, and turning the survivors into mutants. Revelation, the heir to Apocalypse, now rules over the world ten years in the future, but there is a small ragtag resistance to his rule - the X-Men!
However, two of the key members of the X-Men, Cyclops and Beast, have had their minds stripped by Revelation's powers. So the X-Men tried a gambit by bringing the minds of Cyclops and Beast from the past (our present) into the future to see if they could help the future X-Men by taking over their future bodies. We see them in action in this CBR exclusive preview of next week's Amazing X-Men #1, from writer Jed MacKay, artist Mahmud Asrar, colorist Matthew Wilson, and letterer Clayton Cowles!

In the preview pages, we see Cyclops and Beast adjust to suddenly, in effect, being kidnaped ten years into a bleak future. They quickly peg that one of their recent enemies, a member of 3K's X-Men, is now on their side. They learn that 3K cut their "X-Men" loose after Revelation successfully framed 3K for the release of the X-Virus. Beast acts for more information about the X-Virus.
This leads to an awkward moment when Beast interacts with a member of the X-Men, Jen, who he clearly has formed a relationship with over the last decade, but to our Beast, he just met her recently (and yes, they had definitely been flirting with each other, but nothing big yet), and so he has a formal way of speaking to her, and yet it is coming out of the mouth of her longtime love, so it really breaks her.
Cyclops and Beast share an interesting moment. They've known each other for a long time, but their relationship became strained when Beast, well, you know, became a sadistic supervillain. Luckily, Beast was then "rebooted" to an earlier version of himself (before he ever joined X-Factor), so THIS version of Beast is still good friends with Cyclops, and so they really DO appreciate the fact that the other is at least along for the ride with them on this crazy mission.
You'll have to pick up a copy of Amazing X-Men #1 next week, though, to see what else Cyclops and Beast get up to!
