Avatar 4 and 5? Sigourney Weaver Says It’s Still “Up in the Air”

Sigourney Weaver says she is ready for more Pandora adventures after Avatar: Fire and Ash, but she notes that Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 have not been confirmed. The third film occurs only weeks after The Way of Water and follows the Sully family as they fight to survive and defend their world.

In Fire and Ash the threat is more urgent. Colonel Miles Quaritch, played by Stephen Lang, has formed an unstable alliance with Varang, the Mangkwan leader whose village was destroyed by a volcano.

The plot also shows the Resources Development Administration increasing its push to colonize Pandora and harvest the Tulkun, a creature resembling a whale, for a chemical in its brain that can command high prices. The Sully family fights to protect their home, while Kiri, portrayed by Weaver, learns to use her abilities to influence Pandora’s plants and animals.

Weaver spoke to Dexerto ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash and indicated there is more story to tell in Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 for the Na’vi, but only if audiences want it. “I hope we get to do 4 and 5 because there’s so much more story for us to tell. It only builds. But of course, Jim [Cameron] says that’s up in the air now, so we can’t look forward to it,” she said.

Actors often seek additional work, so readers should weigh her comments with that in mind. I mean, what working actor doesn’t want more work?
