One of the most iconic X-Men storylines of all-time (it was in the top 20 of our recent fan-voted top storylines of all-time) is "Days of Future Past," which is about Kitty Pryde having to go back in time to try to avoid the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly, whose assassination would set the world on the path that would lead to mutants being slaughtered and enslaved in the future. The story was also adapted into one of the best X-Men movies of all-time.

Well, the basic set-up of "Days of Future Past" is the basic idea behind the new series, Inglorious X-Force, which you can see in this CBR exclusive preview of the first issue by writer Tim Seeley, artist Michael Sta. Maria, colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr., and letterer Joe Caramagna.

CABLE returns from the future with a handful of clues…and gaping holes in his memory. An assassination is at hand, and it's up to HELLVERINE, ARCHANGEL and his former teammate BOOM-BOOM to follow Cable's lead into the fire. But who are they after, and what secret does Cable's faulty memory hide?

Be here for the ground floor of the mystery and strap in for the most extreme thrill ride in X-dom, as an all-new X-FORCE blazes into battle!

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

In the preview pages, we see that Cable is in the future, and he is trying to stop an assassination attempt, but he ends up being too late (which, of course, is ironic for a time traveler). He naturally freaks out, as that was the whole POINT of him arriving at that specific point in time, but suddenly, the artificial intelligence that operates his time-traveling begins to glitch, and he vanishes into time.

We see him wake up in the past (our present), and his memory is so messed up from his various time travel adventures that it really is difficult for him to figure out WHEN he is, but he quickly determines that he is at one of the original bases of his first version of X-Force, the one he formed from the New Mutants.

He is here for his Days of Future Past plot, which is to help stop the assassination of the first mutant president, which will occur in a few years. He has to put together a new X-Force team in this time, and he discovers that he had scratched out some recruiting ideas on his arm, and so he heads off to recruit the names he mentioned, which are Archangel, Boom Boom, and Hellverine (Wolverine's son, back from the dead as a Spirit of Vengeance).

What his plans will be until he tries to fix his time-traveling capabilities, you will have to pick up a copy of Inglorious X-Force #1 next week to find out!
