Here begins the most celebrated and reviled transformation in Punisher’s history–and it doesn’t even start in his own series.
Norman Osborn sics his Dark Wolverine on Punisher, who successfully kills him.
ScreenshotDaken leaves Frank Castle in pieces in an alley.
This issue is mostly just a long fight, and it’s fine for what it is. The art is not John Romita Jr.’s best. JR Jr likes to draw fights in the rain, but here the results are muddy and hard to see. Also, I would have liked a better “death of Punisher” story. Castle has held his own against all kinds of super-beings, and this death felt rushed.
Still, this “death” will springboard into Frankencastle, which, as noted above, is one of the best-remembered storylines in Punisher history–even if at least as many people hate it as love it.
Preview: I frickin LOVE it.
