Goats Flying Press, one of the most interesting publishers in the crowdfunding space, has announced three new comics for 2026, also unveiling a list of creators that includes Juni Ba, Igor Kordey, Jimmy Li, and more.
The announcement comes as part of the stretch goals for The Goat’s 2nd Anniversary Indie Comics Showcase Kickstarter campaign, which hit full funding Wednesday. Today, The Beat is honored to exclusively unveil the new books.
To date, Goats Flying Press has run four consecutive successful Kickstarter campaigns (five if you count their current campaign), including one of the buzziest and most successful of last year, The Fables of Erlking Wood by Ba and letterer Aditya Bidikar. That book features Ba’s unique take on building new folklore.
But The Goat’s output has been varied. Earlier this year, the publisher also successfully funded Lake Yellowwood Slaughter from writer Alejandro Arbona, artist Gavin Guidry, colorist Chris O’Halloran, and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. That book is meta-skewing horror, with a tagline that reads: A graphic novel “adaptation” of a 1983 slasher movie that never existed!
And this new slate looks just as varied. It’s got veteran comics artist Igor Kordey adapting a short story by Darko Macan. And it’s also got work from newcomers, including Jimmy Li, who delivers a book that Goats Flying Press editor Sebastian Girner describes as “one of the most impressive debuts I’ve EVER seen by a young artist.” Finally, the third book is The Clockwork Heart, which actually comes from a reward tier in the Erlking Wood Kickstarter campaign, in which a backer got to collaborate with Juni Ba on a short comic.
You can find full creator credits, plot synopsis, and a 12-page preview of each of these new books below…enjoy!
Texas Kid, my Brother
Written and drawn by Igor Kordey
Igor is a legend in the comics industry. A veteran of over 50 years in the industry and a true “artist’s artist’ who has worked for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Heavy Metal and TEXAS KID, MY BROTHER, adapted from a short story by Darko Macan, is his magnum opus: a “reverse isekai” graphic novel about the son of a famous comic book artist whose existence is turned on its head by the appearance of a real-life embodiment of his father’s world-famous creation: the comic book cowboy TEXAS KID.
Nighthawks
Written and drawn by Jimmy Li
Nighthawks opens with three young men, strangers to one another, all waking up hungover and confused after a swinging New Years house party, and find that the house they woke up in is drifting in an eternal, black void. Nighthawks combines horror, humor, and existentialism, as it explores what happens to one’s identity when stripped of the world one resides in, and is shaped by.
The Clockwork Heart
Written by Joe Atalla
Art by Juni Ba, Armand Bodnar, Dimitrios Pantazis, and others
The Clockwork Heart is an anthology project spinning out of ‘The Curse of Osiris’, the custom comic that we created with the writer (and artist and architect) Joe Atalla when he backed that exclusive Reward Tier on ‘The Fables of Erlking Wood’. A spooky adventure comic following the adventures of the of Britain’s greatest Gentleman Adventurer (he’s also a skeleton), Sir Reginald, and his ghostly butler Mr. Spittle.
And as one last reminder, Goats Flying Press has a 2-year anniversary kickstarter that is live now. It’s got new Goat merch, a chance to buy the publisher’s entire output so far, as well as two new comics.
The first is The Dead and the Damned #3 by Sebastian Girner and Kelly Williams (more about that series here). And a gnarly (complimentary) new body horror comic called The Consumption from artist Jack Mandrake and Girner again.
