Incredible Hercules #133, 135, and 137 (2009): The Secret Origin of Amadeus Cho

19 hours ago 3

While the title hero of this series running around pretending to be Thor (in the even-numbered issues that appear in this number range), we’re treated to the origin of Amadeus Cho.

In the past, a man named Pythagoras Dupree (the “6th Smartest Man in the World”) creates an intelligence test called the Excello quiz.  Young Amadeus takes the test wins the title of “Seventh smartest Man in the World.” Dupree then goes about planning to kill Cho to protect his own ranking.

Although Dupree dies in the attempt, he does kill Cho’s parents.  In the present, Amadeus looks deeper into Dupree and it ultimately leads him to a secret weapon that Dupree built for Hera, The Continuum.

Cho warns Athena, and the pair decide they need Hercules’ help.

This is another winning entry for this title.  It’s so great.  The details, which I mostly skipped over in my summary, are interesting and fun–I love this comic.
