Iron Man & the Iron Wars #1-4 (2009)

This may be canonical (but it’s not clear exactly when it would be canonical). It starts with the return of Trump…

No, not Donald Trump, two-time President of the United States. This is the magician character. And he’s barely in this. Not sure why Marvel brought his namesake villain in this year. 2009 was the year that the real Donald signed a petition to fight global warming but also changed affiliation to the Republican party. It was also the year that he was killing it in the ratings on the show The Apprentice.

I did love that show.

It’s mostly about Tony fighting a new group formed by old Russian villains, who steal Tony’s armor.

The art is very cartoony and the whole thing reads like an all-ages book, but it’s not. I’m actually not sure that this is canon, because after Crimson Dynamo fails in an attack, he is executed by General Rostov–yet the character comes back in the future with no explanation. There are a few others who seem to die, and in reverse, Omega Red gets resurrected–but later, in continuity, he is still dead.

So I’m going to say this book is not canon. Anyone disagree?
