DC Studios and HBO have quietly canceled two high-profile TV projects and rejected pitches for two more, according to a new report from The Ankler. The long-in-development series Waller, starring Viola Davis, and Paradise Lost, a Wonder Woman prequel set on Themyscira, are no longer in active development at DC Studios. At the same time, DC and HBO passed on pitches for Catwoman and Poison Ivy series, while The Penguin Season 2 now sits in limbo. The moves mark a sharp turn for projects that were once touted as core pieces of the DC Universe slate. James Gunn and Peter Safran had pointed to Waller and Paradise Lost as key entries in the “Gods and Monsters” chapter of the DCU, with Gunn telling fans as recently as April that both shows were in “extreme development.” Now, sources tell The Ankler that both have been scrapped before reaching production. The report also details that DC Studios fielded and considered pitches for Batman-adjacent shows, including a Catwoman series and a Poison Ivy series. Neither will move forward at HBO.
