Magnus Robot Fighter 4000 AD – Volume 01 Issues 05

“Astronomy, Number 13: Meteors and Meteorites”

Western Publishing provides an elevator-pitch of several types of Meteors. There are little details in this segment, but enough to inspire the kids to race to the local library. Maybe mom and dad can purchase one of those expensive encyclopedia sets from Britannica.

“The Immortal One”

Major Timbuc simply would not listen to Magnus until the restaurant fell from the sky. Man must not rely on robots to protect and serve their every need. Now Magnus, Leeja, and the entire Riot-Rob division have arrived at the central power grid to stop a robot uprising. But who is controlling this rebellion?

“Forced Landing”

Emergency! The Earth Ship commanded by Captain Johner has been hit by a rogue asteroid. Now the entire crew and the alien emissaries are in danger of a lost trajectory explosion. If only they could land on that nearby Vesta class rock and avoid its inhabitants. Will Earth’s finest survive in zero gravity along with their alien counterparts? It’s go time!

“Physical Fitness, Number 10: Back Stretchers”

Did you know there is a Presidential Council of Fitness? There sure is. Here are some classic exercises to keep you fit in 1963 America.

Review

This was another fun jaunt into the year 4,000 AD. But, come on. Everything in North Am runs on one localized power source? I would definitely pass on any air cars and floating restaurants. Just saying. The Captain Johner storyline really needed to have its own solo title.

If you like old science fiction, you will want to collect Magnus. This issue gets a solid three out of five stars from this collector. Staying away from the crystals, kids!
