Patrik Walker is an Emmy Award–winning writer who covers all things Comics & Superheroes. His work can also be found at the Dallas Cowboys, The Sporting News, and CBS Sports, among other outlets. One of the most respected names in his field, he is also a diehard enthusiast of all things comics, anime, gaming and movies — thriving in spaces where discussions involving those or similar topics reign supreme.
There are crossover events, and then there's this. Godzilla has had more than his fair share of legendary clashes as the kaiju perpetually seeks to prove he is the one sitting on the throne, never to budge or be moved. Going against fellow kaiju is one thing, but facing some of the most powerful Marvel Comics has to offer is an entirely different kind of fight — one Godzilla appears to be winning, though.
When the latest mega-crossover event between Marvel Comics and Toho Studios, Godzilla Conquers the Multiverse #1, debuts in local comic book shops this July, things are going to get cataclysmic; and largely thanks to the elder god and creator of the symbiotes, Knull, helping an already wildly powerful Godzilla become as OP as anyone's ever seen him.
It will mark the third (and final) series of crossovers from Javier Garrón and Gerry Duggan, and there will be nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide.

Godzilla Destroys Marvel Multiverse Before Avengers: Doomsday
Per the official soliciation: “GODZILLA UNLEASHED, NOWHERE IS SAFE! An unholy alliance between Knull and Godzilla conquers the Marvel Universe – and now Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, Kang, Emma Frost, Ghost Rider, the Punisher, Man-Thing and more stand on the edge of annihilation!
It continued: "When Doomstadt rips across dimensions to capture a kaiju capable of stopping the King of the Monsters, the team collides with mecha fiends, multiversal kaiju and a deadly Red Skull in adamantium armor. But as universes burn, an unexpected ally may hold the key to survival.”
This calendar year is one dominated by all manner of iconic crossovers, Superman/Spider-Man #1 being yet another example of Marvel Comics' willingness to take the gloves off and give readers a ride they never saw coming. But when Godzilla is dropped into the multiverse and with the influence of Knull, villains and heroes must join forces to try and neutralize a threat of cosmic proportions.
Marvel Has Tried to Take Down Godzilla In the Past
This isn't the first time Marvel has had to contend with the nuclear lizard and his atomic breath.
His previous appearances, of course, include Godzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe, following the Godzilla vs. one-shots, and he also showed up in the late 1970s in the Marvel universe.
“The culmination of this Godzilla x Marvel collaboration has been a privilege from the jump." Duggan said. "To be able to help smash these worlds together with Javi and our collaborators has brought real joy, and we hope you’re prepared for an ending you’ll never see coming — with favorites from both universes making late star entrances and some of the craziest sequences I’ve had to honor of rolling off a printer. Hold fast, one last time.”
