The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are about to make the comeback that fans didn't even know was coming.
Per ComicBook.com, a brand-new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book series is on its way later this year, this time from Penguin Random House. Better yet, the new series is being written by Power Rangers: Beyond the Grid scribe Marguerite Bennett.
The listing for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (2026) #1 on the official Penguin Random House website notes that the new title will be illustrated by Andrew Lee Griffith and Phillip Sevy, best known for their work on Transformers and The House, respectively. The page also notes that the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 ebook is set to be released on June 3.
More importantly, the Penguin Random House page lists BOOM! Studios as the title's publisher. This comes as a sign of only good things to come for fans now that they know the next run of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics will stay within the indie publishing powerhouse that breathed new life into the franchise ten years ago.
BOOM! Studios' first run at the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers kicked off in 2016 and immediately established itself as the then-latest, quite possibly the greatest entry in the entire franchise. Largely developed and helmed by all-star writer Ryan Parrott, BOOM! Studios' Power Rangers universe introduced entirely new concepts and characters that have become indelible parts of the wider Power Rangers mythos, all while redefining those that were already tent poles of the franchise in their own right.
Fans will get their first chance to check out the new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series ahead of its release courtesy of the very first Comics Giveaway Day, one of the several successors to Free Comic Book Day. Held on May 2, Comics Giveaway Day will see several publishers, including BOOM! Studios, lend various titles to the event. Among these is Power Rangers #0, an anthology title that will serve as a follow-up to the currently ongoing (and soon to conclude) Power Rangers Prime.
What's Next For Power Rangers Prime?
Image via BOOM! StudiosPower Rangers Prime is slated to conclude with the release of its 16th issue, which itself is slated to arrive in stores everywhere on April 8. Following the conclusion of BOOM! Studios' sprawling Power Rangers epic, the entire universe was once again rebooted with an updated and decidedly dour setting.
Throughout the course of Power Rangers Prime, readers have been introduced to a world unlike any they have seen before, one in which the Eltarian Empire reigns supreme, and the Power Rangers have been relegated to little more than myth. Fortunately, one last Ranger remains in the form of Lauren Shiba, who just so happens to find a band of like-minded individuals willing to help her save the world as its latest team of color-coded superheroes.
Fans are also looking forward to the return of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on the small screen, courtesy of Disney+ and Percy Jackson and the Olympians showrunners Dan Shotz and Jonathan E. Steinberg. While details about the Disney-led reboot of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers remain slim, fans have a great deal of confidence in its showrunners, especially after the success of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on the same platform.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 from BOOM! Studios and Penguin Random House goes on sale on June 3.
