Dynamite Entertainment always makes the best Valentine’s Day Specials, and this is no exception. Last year, Sonja faced off against a love-struck Thoth-Amon. This time Cupid is out for blood! If you’re a fan of Red Sonja, get this issue for your collection. I give this special four out of five stars.
Red Sonja & Cupid — A Valentine’s Tale
Cupid flew on velvet wings through Hyborian air,
Seeking soft hearts, lovers unaware.
He found instead a warrior bold,
Hair like flame, a will of iron, fierce and cold.
He loosed his shaft with practiced grace,
But Sonja turned, steel flashing in its place.
The arrow fell, its magic spent,
Love unclaimed, the message bent.
“Boy,” she laughed, “your tricks are small.
My heart is earned—or not at all.”
Yet Cupid smiled, not struck by fear,
For courage like hers draws love near.
So he dipped his arrow in battle and fire,
In honor, trust, and fierce desire.
This time it flew, not forced nor fast—
And brushed her heart… at last, at last.
