Last year, fans were surprised to see Oni Press promoting its latest Rick and Morty series as "The End." Oni then confirmed that the current miniseries, Rick and Morty: The End, will be the end of Oni Press' longtime association with Rick and Morty, which has been going on for more than a decade, and has involved over 100 comic books being released.
Now, Oni Press is announcing the literal FINAL issue of Rick and Morty at Oni Press, Rick and Morty: Forever #1, a double-sized one-shot by Daniel Kibblesmith and Jarrett Williams, the creative team on Rick and Morty: The End, which will feature a special wraparound foil cover by Troy Little, which will be the ONLY cover for this comic (all the other issues of Rick and Morty: The End have featured multiple variants).
What are the plot details of Rick and Morty: Forever?

How do you punish the smartest man in the universe? Show him everything—everything—he’s ever wanted to know or see, and afford him no power to do anything about it. Rick Sanchez, the destroyer of worlds. Now he sits in endless observation of all there is to see, tortured by cosmic impotence, the ultimate expression of “go to your room and think about what you did.”
But in his endless torment, Rick realizes that a fate of unspeakable horror also awaits his unwitting companion: his grandson, Morty. Can Rick save the soul of the only being that ever stood by him through all his indiscretions? Can the transformative power of love give rise to the triumph of the human spirit? Or is everything just #@$%@?
Oni Press celebrates an honest-to-goodness comic book milestone more than a decade in the making as RICK AND MORTY FOREVER #0 portals into comic shops for one last hurrah in a 48-page barrage of shock and awe – and sporting just one foil-licous cover from omniversal legend Troy Little – arriving on May 27th!
What is currently going on in Rick and Morty: The End?
As we just noted in our recent review of Rick and Morty: The End #3, Rick is on the run from the Multiverse after the events of last year's previous crossover event, Rick and Morty Versus the Universe, where Rick completed a reboot of a universe. Morty was threatened with the destruction of every Morty in the Multiverse unless he helped bring his grandfather to justice.
Morty teamed up with a new Vindicators lineup (led by Morty's ex-girlfriend, the Captain Planet parody known as Planetina) to hunt Rick down. Rick had been hiding in a dream reality where Rick created his "perfect family" (with a cooler version of Jerry, and, as Morty quickly picks up on, no Morty). The Vindicators attack, and destroy Rick's "dream family," and Rick quickly subdues them and puts them into virtual reality simulators.
However, they escape, and Rick shocks everyone by SURRENDERING! So now, the next issue will feature Rick Sanchez on trial by the Multiverse! And it will all eventually lead to Rick and Morty: Forever.
Rick and Morty: Forever #1 is due out on May 27th.
