The Walking Dead and Invincible creator Robert Kirkman's latest original comic book series is crushing expectations.
Per a press release from Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment, the first issue of Skinbreaker from writer Robert Kirkman and artist David Finch has officially sold out at the distributor level. Fortunately for fans who may have missed it the first time around, Skinbreaker #1 is heading back for a second printing. Not only that, but the second printing of Skinbreaker #1 will be available in both a regular and treasury edition prints, with the latter blowing things up to a 10" x 14" format on deluxe newsprint featuring the treasury-format version of the original Cover G art by David Finch and Annalisa Leoni. Kirkman himself said of the news, "I'm always so thrilled when I see this industry supporting new ideas!" Kirkman added, "David and I are extremely gratified to see the response to this series. We can't wait for people to see more of the world of Skinbreaker."
Set in a prehistoric world replete with all manner of monstrous beasts and fantastical stories, Skinbreaker follows Enor, the chieftain of his tribe, who wields the mystical sword known as the Skinbreaker. Alongside his second-in-command Anok, who also wields a shard of the original, much larger Skinbreaker that was shattered and scattered long ago, Enor sets out to protect his tribe and prove himself as a capable leader, all while navigating the decidedly dour and often devastating nuances of life in this fantastical, seemingly alien society.
The official solicit synopsis for Skinbreaker #1 from Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment reads, "Enor has led his tribe for many seasons, but his time as Chieftan is coming to an end. He wields the mighty SKINBREAKER, but at his age, he can barely lift it. Will Enor's reluctant heir, Anok, take over before their world falls to ruin? As a bloody power struggle begins, an even bigger threat lurks in the darkness beyond their village."
Skinbreaker #1 is on sale now from Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment. The second printing edition goes on sale October 29.
