Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder ensures fans that a potentially controversial turn is not taking place in upcoming issues.

In a recent social media post, Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder responded to a question about the potential motives for the Absolute Universe's Court of Owls. When asked whether the Court of Owls was related to the same violent, right-wing militia Batman took on in the Absolute Batman annual, Snyder responded simply, "No."

The impending introduction of the next Court of Owls in the pages of Absolute Batman #18 is one of the most hotly-anticipated by fans. The original Court of Owls made their debut in the pages of 2011's Batman #2 by Snyder and Greg Capullo as a shadowy, overtly malevolent organization comprised of servants of the demon Barbatos, and whose members included some of Gotham City's most elite and wealthiest citizens.

While the Absolute Universe's Dark Knight is currently set to face off against the Absolute Poison Ivy when she makes her debut in Absolute Batman #17 on February 18, she is just one of numerous iconic DC Comics characters who will be getting the Absolute treatment in upcoming issues of the hit series. Not only will the Court of Owls be reintroduced in Absolute Batman #18, but both the Absolute Scarecrow and Deathstroke will be doing the very same in the very next issue.

Absolute Batman Has Been A Game Changer For DC Comics

Although the rogues' gallery belonging to DC Comics' Absolute Batman is only getting bigger, Scott Snyder himself has already given fans an idea of when the epic retelling of the Dark Knight's story will come to a close. Back in November, Snyder explained that he and artist Nick Dragotta had already plotted the series out to between 35 and 40 issues in total, and that they "know the big final chapter of it." Having a definitive ending for the series already mapped out is greatly reassuring.

"I hope it reminds people that these characters are meant to be renewed," Snyder said at the time. "They're meant to be burned down and put together. Batman weaponizes his trauma to make the world better, that's how he wins."

Fortunately, the Absolute Universe has plenty of room to continue expanding before then, and it hasn't slowed down in that regard whatsoever. In fact, the recently released Absolute Wonder Woman #16 by all-star writer Kelly Thompson and artist Hayden Sherman just gave the Absolute Suicide Squad the bold and brash introduction they were looking for, and the lineup this time around might be the strongest yet, especially with an unhinged Zatanna at the lead.

In what might be the most surprising turn for DC Comics of the entire year, the heroes of the Absolute Universe also appear to be on a direct collision course with the final remaining fighters from the ongoing DC K.O. event. As seen in the pages of DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1, Lex Luthor, the Joker, Wonder Woman, and Superman all survived their battles with the likes of Homelander, and are now on their way towards deciding the fate of the entire Multiverse.

Absolute Batman #18 from DC Comics goes on sale March 11.
