The depths of Grand Moff Tarkin's cruelty have finally been revealed, and they are heartbreaking.

In a preview of Star Wars: Boba Fett — Black, White & Red #4 (by Alyssa Wong, Sara Pichelli, Rachelle Rosenberg, and VC's Joe Caramagna) from Marvel Comics, readers find the young Cadet Sydna Tarkin preparing to enjoy some much-needed respite after another successful strategic exercise. Unfortunately, a lone assassin ensures that she never gets that chance. Worse still, her uncle, Governor Wilhuff Tarkin, sees her murder as nothing more than an utter failure on Sydna's part, and as such has no interest in honoring her life, nor in avenging her death.

The official solicit synopsis for Star Wars: Boba Fett — Black, White & Red #4 from Marvel Comics reads, "BOBA FETT VS. THE SHADOW OF BRI-PHRANG! A murder in the TARKIN family puts BOBA FETT on the hunt for a ruthless killer! Things get even more wild as bounty hunter RASLIN GRACE joins the fray! Will Boba get to the bottom of the murder, or will Raslin's violent ways stop him dead in his tracks?"

Originally portrayed by the late, great Peter Cushing, Grand Moff Tarkin was introduced in 1977's Star Wars as one of the highest-ranking officers in the Galactic Empire. As the commander of the original Death Star, Tarkin effectively stood with his finger on the trigger of the strongest weapon of all time.

Although Tarkin's story came to an end when the Death Star was destroyed, the character has been revisited in various media, ranging from 2005's Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith to the hit Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series to dozens of comic book titles. Tarkin has also been at the center of numerous novels, the vast majority of which have been relegated to non-canon Legends status in the wake of Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm back in 2012.

Star Wars: Boba Fett — Black, White & Red is just the latest in a long line of similar anthologies that began in 2020 with the release of Wolverine: Black, White & Blood. Since then, numerous Marvel Comics characters, including Spider-Man, Deadpool, and Moon Knight, have all graced the pages of their own chapters of the wider Black, White & Blood anthology series.

Bobba Fett is also just the latest of several Star Wars mainstays to receive the Black, White & Red treatment. Previously, both Darth Vader and Darth Maul led their own Black, White & Red series, giving readers some of the darkest and most insightful stories revolving around the deadliest villains to ever inhabit A Galaxy Far, Far Away.

Star Wars: Boba Fett — Black, White & Red #4 goes on sale December 31 from Marvel Comics.
