Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrella... especially Batman. His passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about.

Two of the most beloved Star Wars characters are finally returning in their first big-screen adventure, The Mandalorian and Grogu. Lucky for those who cannot get enough of the cosmic bounty hunter and his adorable apprentice, they will return very soon after in their first self-titled comic.

Just two months after their movie is released on May 22, a tie-in comic book called The Mandalorian and Grogu: Danger in the Dark will hit the shelves.

The graphic novel takes place between the events of the divisive The Mandalorian Season 3 and the upcoming feature film. It appears that the story sees Din Djarin challenged not only with a new, stressful task, but also with his ability to trust his powerful, but sometimes rebellious, foundling, according to the official synopsis.

"A hidden danger looms deep beneath the surface of Nevarro and it’s up to the Mandalorian and Grogu to stop it! Joined by a courageous crew of Anzellan friends, Din Djarin and his foundling venture into the lava tubes underneath the city to defuse a crashed pirate ship, facing creepy creatures and perilous obstacles along the way. But with the planet’s safety on the line, can Grogu learn to listen to Mando’s guidance? And can Mando balance teaching Grogu with letting the little guys lead? Don’t miss this high-energy story full of humor and heart!"

Penning the tale is Delilah S. Dawson, who is no stranger to literature set in a galaxy far, far away, having written novels like 2017's Phasma and other related comics, such as Star Wars Adventures for IDW Publishing. Collaborating on the visuals is layout artist Mario del Pennino of Marvel Action: Captain Marvel fame and Arianna Florean, known for Marvel Action: Black Panther, who is in charge of both penciling and inking, with Juni Ba, Ramon Rosanas, and Brent Schoonover contributing some of the many variant covers.

Marvel has served as the main home of modern Star Wars comics since 2015, but a different company is handling The Mandalorian and Grogu: Danger in the Dark. In fact, the graphic novel is one of several upcoming titles as part of Mad Cave Studios' partnership with Lucasfilm and is being published under its imprint aimed toward younger audiences called Papercutz.

Later this year in September, Mad Cave will release Star Wars: Smugglers and Scoundrels—The Race for Jabba's Bounty, which follows Han Solo and Chewbacca in a high-stakes race and comes from writer Cavan Scott and illustrator Christian Colbert. The following month comes a tale from Luke Skywalker's early years growing up on Tatooine by Grek Pak and the aforementioned Schoonover called Star Wars: Tales from the Outer Rim—The Legend of Beggar's Canyon.

What Is The Mandalorian and Grogu About?

It has been seven years since Pedro Pascal first made his debut in the Star Wars Universe as the title hero of the smash hit Disney+ original series, The Mandalorian. Of course, it was his cute, child-like Jedi companion, initially referred to as "Baby Yoda" by fans before his true name, Grogu, was revealed in Season 2, who really stole the show and boosted its appeal among audiences of all ages.

Three years after The Mandalorian Season 3, the duo is back in The Mandalorian and Grogu, in which they are enlisted by the New Republic on a dangerous assignment. Din Djarin and Grogu must rescue Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba, as a means to gain information about someone targeted by the New Republic.

The film is directed by the original series creator, Jon Favreau, who also co-wrote with Star Wars veteran and longtime collaborator Dave Filoni, as well as Noah Kloor. Pascal, after being visibly absent for Season 3 to contend with his busy schedule, physically reprises the role of Din Djarin in a cast that also includes franchise newcomers Jeremy Allen White as the voice of Rotta and Academy Award-nominated sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver as Ward, a New Republic colonel who previously fought for the Rebel Alliance as a pilot.

The Mandalorian and Grogu: Danger in the Dark will be available in bookstores on July 22.
