Star Wars fans are about to see the beloved Cassian Andor back in action. A new story is planned to celebrate Rogue One's tenth anniversary, and it puts the spotlight on the young smuggler.

Star Wars: Rogue One - Cassian Andor #1 will go on sale May 6, 2026, and is being teased by Marvel Comics as a prequel story that helps bridge the gap between Andor and Rogue One. Marvel's solicit for the upcoming story reveals: "Before the heist that shook the galaxy, a lone Rebel operative walks into danger. Cassian Andor infiltrates the lawless maze of Kafrene, racing against troopers, bounty hunters, and time itself in a tense espionage thriller." The story is written by Benjamin Percy and features art by Luke Ross.

Andor Gets Lost in Kafrene in New Prequel Story

A preview of the new Rogue One story gives fans a first look at the dangerous mission Andor will go on, getting lost in the maze of Kafrene. "Cassian Andor had a reputation. That reputation — single-minded stubbornness and punishing violence — is what made him trouble for both the Empire and the Rebellion," the pages read.

Later pages show Andor and Kaytoo quarrelling over the importance of the mission. "We're barely going to have enough time as it is," Andor insists, adding: "I'll stop being angry when the Empire falls. Or I die."

Star Wars: Rogue One - Cassian Andor #1 will hit comic book shops with a main cover by David Marquez, with Marvel also teasing several variants, including one for the new film Mandalorian & Grogu, and a special photo variant showcasing Diego Luna as the character. All covers are priced at $4.99.

Star Wars Fans Crave More Andor Stories Following Prequel Series Ending

Since his debut as a supporting character in 2016's Rogue One, it's been clear that Cassian Andor is one of the best Star Wars characters in recent years. In 2022, he led his own prequel series, Andor, which ran for two seasons and led all the way up to the events of the first two Star Wars films.

Diego Luna, who was recently cast in Disney's upcoming live-action Tangled, is largely regarded as one of the main reasons the character feels so loved and authentic, and he certainly made Andor feel unique compared to other Star Wars heroes. Morally complex and flawed, Cassian is as relatable as he is nuanced, and the Andor prequel series on Disney+ allowed the character to go on an incredible journey that cemented his status as one of Star Wars' best.

With Andor Season 2 concluding where it did, there may not be much hope left for the character to appear in films or series going forward — but stories like Marvel's Star Wars: Rogue One — Cassian Andor #1 offer the perfect opportunity to explore the beloved character and learn more about his past.
