The following contains major spoilers for Star Wars: Jar Jar #1, on sale now from Marvel Comics.
Marvel Comics just added a whole new layer to Grogu's story and how many people worked to help him escape Star Wars' devastating Order 66 execution.
Star Wars: Jar Jar #1, by Ahmed Best, Marc Guggenheim, Kieran McKeown, Laura Braga, Mike Atiyeh, and Joe Caramagna, follows Jedi Kelleran Beq as he seeks out the issue's eponymous Gungan Senator in the hopes of righting one of the Galaxy's biggest wrongs. As it turns out, Jar Jar was previously unaware of just how much power he had mistakenly given Palpatine, though upon learning the truth, he is quick to offer any help that Naboo can give in pushing back against the budding Empire.

This marks a major turning point for fans, who have spent countless hours speculating over the details of Naboo's part in helping the young Grogu escape the horrors of Order 66. Back in The Mandalorian Season 3, audiences saw Kelleran Beq (portrayed by original Jar Jar actor Ahmed Best) rush Grogu away to safety during Order 66, all with the help ofwhat was clearly a ship from Naboo.
Since then, fans have wondered exactly why that specific ship was waiting for Beq and Grogu, not to mention who within Naboo's leadership might have been behind setting up such an extraction. Now, it is clear that it was none other than Jar Jar Binks himself who took part in ensuring Grogu's survival in the face of one of the Galaxy's most horrific events.
Order 66's Impact On The Star Wars Universe, Explained
Image by LucasfilmOrder 66, also known as Clone Protocol 66 or more simply The Order, is by far one of the most infamous concepts and stomach-churning chapters in the entire Star Wars franchise. In and of itself, Order 66 was a top-secret contingency plan that would immediately identify any and all Jedi as traitors to the Galactic Republic.
Audiences first saw Order 66 play out in 2005's Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, during which Palpatine, or Darth Sidious, enacted the protocol, in turn leading to the executions of nearly every single Jedi at the hands of the Republic's clone army — Not to mention those of a whole host of younglings at the hands of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker before his transformation into the legendary Darth Vader.
The official solicit synopsis for Star Wars: Jar Jar #1 from Marvel Comics reads, "JAR JAR RETURNS — CO-WRITTEN BY JAR JAR HIMSELF, AHMED BEST! JAR JAR faces the consequences of giving emergency powers to CHANCELLOR PALPATINE. What pivotal role does Jar Jar play in the formation of the REBEL ALLIANCE? Guest-starring fan-favorite JEDI KNIGHT KELLERAN BEQ!"
