Superman/Spider-Man #1 follows up on 2025's hit comic book crossovers, Deadpool/Batman #1 and Batman/Deadpool #1, which offered readers a whole host of crossover stories across two oversized anthology issues. More importantly, Superman/Spider-Man #1 celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first comic book crossover between the heroes of the Marvel and DC Universes — Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century.

The official solicit synopsis for Superman/Spider-Man #1 from DC and Marvel Comics promises plenty of high-flying action to come, reading, "When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves chasing the same story, the conspiracy they uncover could change the world—especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have anything to say about it. (And we bet they do!)"

The synopsis continues, "Good thing our intrepid newshounds are secretly Superman and the Amazing Spider-Man. To bring this clash of reporters‑turned‑heroes to life, Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez join forces to headline DC’s Superman/Spider-Man #1 with an unforgettable lead story."

Readers got a chance to catch up on all the creative teams lending their talents to Superman/Spider-Man #1, which includes hit writers such as Brad Melzer, Brian Michael Bendis, Stephanie Phillips, and Jeph Loeb. The title will also feature artists such as Humberto Ramos, Sara Pichelli, and Russell Dauterman, all of whom have also lent their talents to the more than two dozen variant covers that Superman/Spider-Man #1 will be available in.

Fans have also been treated to some behind-the-scenes details regarding not just what the main story of Superman/Spider-Man #1 will entail, but how it came about in the first place. According to critically acclaimed writer Mark Waid, "I thought I was done with the script, and I turned it in, and everybody was fine with it. Marvel and DC… and then Tom Brevoort had a note, and... it was a great note."

Waid went on to explain that Brevoort was disappointed with the story's ending, which would have seen Spider-Man and Superman pair off with their respective enemies, Doctor Octopus and Brainiac, for a pair of climactic battles. "Tom says, and it's so obvious in retrospect, 'I can see Superman fight Brainiac anytime. When do I get to see Superman fight Dr. Octopus? When do I get to see Spider-Man fight Brainiac?' I'm like, God d*mn it," Waid explained. "So, that was just tearing up the floorboards, but it made for a much better story."

Superman/Spider-Man #1 from DC and Marvel Comics goes on sale March 25.

Since his first appearance in 1962, Spider-Man has almost always been Marvel Comics' most popular character. Known for his sense of humor and bad luck as well as his selflessness and super-strength, Spider-Man has helmed countless titles over the years, Spider-Man's most prominent comics include The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Peter Parker was the original Spider-Man but the Spider-Verse has become an important part of the character's lore in recent years. Multiversal and future Spider-Men include Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Miguel O'Hara and Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. This provided the premise for the popular Spider-Verse film trilogy, which makes Miles its primary hero.

Spider-Man is also the basis of several live-action film franchises and numerous animated television series. He is one of the most recognizable characters in the world. While he's changed a lot over the decades, Steve Ditko and Stan Lee gave the world an unforgettable hero when they created Spider-Man.
