Disney’s iconic 1994 film The Lion King is returning in a new comic series published by Dynamite Comics from writer/artist Edwin Galmon, set to release on November 12, 2025. Fans return to the boundless savannahs of Africa for a new adventure starring Mufasa and a young Simba as they navigate the complex web of relationships across their vast kingdom during the events of the original 1994 animated movie.
The Lion King marks the writing debut of Galmon, who has previously done the artwork and covers for multiple Dynamite titles like Lilo & Stitch, Stitch, Giant-Size Wacky Races, The Terminator, and ThunderCats: Cheetara.
“Having the honor and opportunity to work with the regal The Lion King franchise is a humbling experience. This is where my childhood imagination meets my adulthood craftsmanship, and with excitement, I hope people really enjoy the story we have cooked up!” said Galmon. “As a kid, my favorite parts of The Lion King movie were all the scenes featuring Mufasa and Simba together because I related to how much I love and respect my dad. With that in mind, I wanted to have more father-son bonding, loving guidance, goofy playtimes, and mentorship themes for Simba to enjoy with his dad.”
