X-Men: Die by the Sword #1-5 (2007-2008)

This is not an X-Men book. Rather, it’s a crossover between the worst of the X-family of comics (Excalibur) and one I haven’t been covering here because it’s a non-616 book (Exiles). Both titles, and this series, are written by Chris Claremont. Now, I respect Claremont. He created the X-books that served as a foundation for nearly a half-century of stories. But by the time he writes this story, he’s several decades past his prime.

This series is confusing and, worse, boring. I hate to show up to class without having done my homework but…I couldn’t finish this. I just flipped through it looking for evidence of anything important.

I didn’t find any.

I mean, Roma dies and Excalibur break up but…So what? The story leads into Exiles #100, which ends that series.
