The official solicit synopsis for Disney Manga: The Nightmare Before Christmas All Hail the Pumpkin King from TokyoPop reads, "Taking place shortly after The Battle for Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington is now the newly-named Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, and his first Halloween is fast approaching. Intent on proving himself as deserving of this title, Jack plans a huge celebration full of flashy ideas and fun for all—and insists on doing all the work himself!"

The solicit text continues, "As his to-do list piles up, Jack starts to fear that he can't deliver on all the frightful promises of Halloween, and so he turns to the one person he knows can help: Oogie Boogie. Thinking this might be a chance to rekindle their friendship after their battle for the Pumpkin King title, Jack enlists Oogie Boogie to assist in Halloween preparations... not realizing that the embittered Oogie Boogie actually has schemes of his own."

Disney Manga: The Nightmare Before Christmas All Hail the Pumpkin King marks the latest in a long line of The Nightmare Before Christmas comics published by TokyoPop over the past few years. In 2016, TokyoPop released a limited-edition hardcover manga adaptation of the 1999 classic. In 2018, TokyoPop's first original Disney Manga story inspired by the film, The Nightmare Before Christmas — Zero's Journey, was released to the delight of fans everywhere.

Three years after Zero's Journey, TokyoPop released Disney Manga: The Nightmare Before Christmas — Mirror Moon, which introduced a whole new layer of horror to the already terrifying goings-on of Halloween Town. These stories and The Battle for Pumpkin King have expanded the world of The Nightmare Before Christmas in entirely new directions, although TokyoPop isn't the only publisher doing so.

Dynamite Entertainment has also released its own slate of The Nightmare Before Christmas graphic novels in recent years. The latest of these, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Shiver of Christmas Town, put fan-favorite Sally front-and-center for yet another harrowing tale of horror, this time brought about thanks to Doctor Finkelstein's latest, seemingly harmless creation.

Disney Manga: The Nightmare Before Christmas All Hail the Pumpkin King #1 from TokyoPop goes on sale on July 15.
