The Avengers are heading into a new era ahead of the release of Doomsday, and Marvel is unleashing a new logo to celebrate. The events of the new story will spin out of the current Avengers: Armageddon.
Marvel recently revealed details for Avengers #1, which will go on sale Nov. 4 right before Doomsday makes its theatrical debut the following month. With the new issue comes a bold new logo, and writer Chip Zdarsky recently talked about the revamp in his Substack newsletter. "I really wanted to do a new take on the “A” design and, luckily, Marvel let me," Zdarsky wrote while showing off the new design.
The Avengers Debut a New Roster Along With Their Logo in New Series
It's not just the Avengers' logo that is getting a revamp; even the team itself will be going through some shake-ups when Zdarsky's run begins later this year. "Obviously I can’t say too much just yet, but trust me when I say that our goal is to make The Avengers the coolest, biggest book on the shelf," Zdarsky shared. "Every issue goes hard, and I can’t believe Marvel are letting us do it."
Marvel recently teased the new Avengers run and just how far-reaching it will be. "With the world order completely rewritten after the events of Avengers: Armageddon, a day unlike any other arrives, when a new group of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes find themselves united to avenge the Marvel Universe." The team includes Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Luke Cage and an all-new hero who will debut "soon."
Cover art for Avengers #1 showcases the new team in action, with the main cover teasing the Avengers lineup posing atop what appears to be the ruins of an active volcano, complete with hundreds of skulls all around it. Fittingly, the new logo is front and center amidst the book's title: "Earth's mightiest survivors."
The new tagline certainly teases a bleak future ahead for the Marvel Universe's superheroes. The currently running Avengers: Armageddon is billed as "the origin of the end", and the new team seems like a group of heroes who are called to defend Earth when the typical Avengers are no longer there to do so.
"There will be a pre-Armageddon Marvel Universe and a post-Armageddon Marvel Universe," Marvel previously teased of Armageddon. "Be here to bear witness to the transformation."
Zdarsky Teases New Avengers Team is Mad and 'Ready to Avenge'
Image via MarvelJust who will be left standing in the aftermath of Armageddon remains to be seen, but Zdarsky has already teased that the Avengers' new lineup will be pretty upset by the events and ready to take the lead. "It's obviously a massive honor getting to write the world's greatest super hero team! And after what happens in Avengers: Armageddon, this lineup is angry as hell and ready to avenge," he shared.
"Avengers is a book that should lead the Marvel Universe, where big things happen, and surprises keep hitting," Zdarsky added. "That's what Marco and I are doing with every issue, and I can’t wait for people to fall in love with these gorgeous pages."
