In 2015, superstar creators Brian K. Vaughan (Y the Last Man, Saga) and Steve Skroce (Wolverine, Cable, storyboard artist for The Matrix) released the miniseries, We Stand On Guard, about the United States invading Canada in the year 2112, and the resistance movement in Canada over the next decade plus against the invaders from the South.
With recent political tensions between Canada and the United States on edge with President Trump threatening to place a 25% tariff on Canadian imports to the United States, the sales of the nearly-decade-old miniseries have skyrocketed, with the trade collection of the series selling more copies in the last week than it did in the past year combined.

What was We Stand on Guard about?

As We Stand on Guard opened, it was the year 2112, and the President of the United States is assassinated, and the attack is blamed on Canada, and the United States attacks Canada in a series of drone attacks. The United States then invades Canada, and takes control of the country. The United States has a dramatic advantage in technology, so the Canadian citizens are heavily outgunned.
However, some of the Canadian citizens still fight back, and we follow one young woman, Amber Roos, as she barely survives the initial attack by the United States (although her parents are killed), and then loses her older brother, as well, before she finally joins the resistance group, "Two-Four," that works as a guerrilla "freedom fighter" army against the occupying forces of the United States, including the mysterious head of American inquisitors known only as "Ma'am."
