A Jewish Comics Anthology is Returning, And We Have an Exclusive Cover Reveal

Last year, the Jewish comics anthology, Chutzpah, debuted, and was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter, blowing well past its original stated goal by over 20%. The tagline for the anthology was that it was "a celebration of Jewish joy, liberation, defiance, and diversity. It is a project born out of love and a desire to elevate Jewish voices and storytelling."

The first volume introduced the format of the series, which was, according to the original Kickstarter, "3-5 short story comics about Jews from all walks of life—stories that offer a fresh lens on the Jewish experience beyond narratives of trauma and suffering. The comics will be created by a carefully curated group of veterans of the comics industry, expert storytellers and artists who themselves represent a wide range of Jewish identities and traditions."

After the great success of the first issue of the series, Chutzpah is back for a second go-around, and the crowdfunding will begin on July 12th, but you can already save the Kickstarter page here and ask to be notified when the crowdfunding starts. CBR is exclusively revealing the cover to the second issue, and we will also tell you the creators who will be involved in this second issue of the anthology.

What is the Cover of Chutzpah #2?

One of the fun things about the Chutzpah series is that the covers will always feature the mascot of the series, Feivel the Fiddler, getting involved in a piece of pop culture mayhem.

In the first issue, the Sean Forney cover showed Feivel dealing with King Kong, and now, in this second issue cover (by artist Michael Kasinger), Feivel is re-enacting the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark (a sequence that actually has its origins in a comic book story, as noted in an old Comic Book Legends Revealed).

Who are the Creators Involved in Chutzpah #2?

As revealed in a press release about the new issue, the second issue of Chutzpah: A Jewish Celebration in Comics will have five brand-new stories from creators Steven E. Gordon, Rob Kutner, Joshua M. Edelglass, Michelle Garfinkel, Michal Schick, and Alex Schumacher. The issue will also complete the WWII Hanukkah tale written by Paul Axel, with art by Dody Eka and Tebe Andry, which was teased in Issue #1.

Daniel Kalban, the founder of the Chutzpah! anthology, noted in the press release, "Chutzpah! is a team effort, and with the success of the first issue, we are so excited to bring the second issue of this new anthology series to comic book fans everywhere."
