Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrella... especially Batman. His passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about.
Rarely has a single alternate variation of a famous comic book character achieved as much esteem, and as quickly, as Absolute Batman. Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta's reinvention of the Dark Knight has become one of the industry's most fascinating modern success stories.
The Absolute Universe's version of Bruce Wayne has inspired valuable collectible items and a playable video game character in the two years since its debut. However, in 2026, Absolute Batman will finally be added to one of the most sought-after brands of pop culture merchandising.
Absolute Batman Funko POP! Figurine Debuts At Comic Con 2026
An Absolute Batman Funko POP! vinyl figurine is releasing this year! However, the collectible item will only be available at San Diego Comic Con.
Exclusive Funko POP! figures, which are miniature (but large-headed) sculptures based on the likeness of popular characters from all forms of media, have been a staple of the biggest annual event in geek culture for years. This event will be a special occasion, however, as one of the most beloved figures of modern comic book culture will be among the must-have collectible items available.
The Absolute Batman figurine takes after the image of the vigilante standing ready for action with his now iconic battle axe in hand and his tattered cape flowing behind him. The item stands at a little more than 4 in. tall, will be available to buy at $40 a piece, and comes with a chance to win a special surprise with every purchase.
While most Funko POP! collectors like to store their figurines in UV Premium Plastic POP! Protectors, this figurine will come pre-packaged in the protective container, which will also be branded with a 2026 Summer Convention sticker. To prevent knock-offs, the figure will also come with a new, special authentication packaging that uses micro-optic technology developed through Funko's partnership with Octane5.
Absolute Batman, which recently released its 21st issue, is the best-selling DC comic book series following a version of Bruce Wayne who is not a wealthy playboy, but a construction worker with a living mother. It was his father's senseless murder that inspired him to use his genius intellect, indomitable will, and unusually large physique to good use as a vigilante.
Other DC Absolute Universe Funko Pop! Figures Will Be Available At SDCC
Image via DCAbsolute Batman is not the only character from DC's Absolute Universe that collectors will be able to get their hands on at SDCC 2026. Funko POP! vinyl figurines modeled after Absolute Superman and Absolute Wonder Woman will also be on sale.
The Absolute Superman figurine comes with a stand, so that it appears that the powered-up Kryptonian, with his glowing yellow fists and boots, is floating. Absolute Wonder Woman can also fly, yet her Funko Pop! merely stands while resting her hand on her epic Athena Blade.
It should be noted, however, that only 1,000 Absolute Universe Funko POP! figures will be made available for the event at the San Diego Convention Center. So, fans of DC's mega-popular venture in attendance should be quick to the draw if they want to get their hands on those exclusive collectibles.
Absolute Superman, in which Kal-El was brought to Earth as an adolescent after barely escaping his dying planet, comes from writer Jason Aaron and artist Rafa Sandoval, and Kelly Thompson is the brains behind Absolute Wonder Woman, which reimagines the Amazonian warrior princess as having been raised in Hell, literally. Snyder is the main overseer of DC's Absolute Universe, which has also added titles like Absolute Flash, the soon-to-be ended Absolute Martian Manhunter, Absolute Green Arrow, and more to its lineup since.
San Diego Comic Con 2026 will be held from Thursday, July 23, to Sunday, July 26, 2026.
