Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrella... especially Batman. His passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about.

The comic book medium has done very well for the horror genre in more recent years. For instance, 2025 saw a huge hit with the debut of the bloody, brutal, and brilliant Exquisite Corpses.

The Image Comics and Tiny Onion release about deadly people forced to play a deadly game for the enjoyment of America's elite is only continuing to get bigger. The next chapter puts one of Exquisite Corpses' top characters under the knife.

Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer Unveils The Assassin's Origin

One of the most striking characters from the Exquisite Corpses series is a sword-wielding assassin wearing a mask that resembles a fox, earning her the name Fox Mask Killer. Her backstory is about to be revealed in a new spin-off to the hit series, fittingly titled Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer.

The five-issue limited series sees the eponymous character making a bid to escape the business of contract killing, despite being the most sought-after and widely feared professional in her field. According to the comic's official synopsis, in Fox Mask Killer's desperation, the only one she may be able to turn to get out alive is "the devil herself."

Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer is the second comic to be spun-off from the main series, the first being Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy. Set to launch on July 8, 2026, the five-issue miniseries takes a deeper look inside the life of the killer known for dressing like a demented rabbit.

Exquisite Corpses is the brainchild of acclaimed comic book creators writer James Tynion IV and artist Michael Walsh. Both are known for contributing to some of the most unsettling horror comic books in recent memory, including Tynion's renowned, apocalyptic The Nice House series and Walsh's devilish horror anthology comic book series, The Silver Coin. The series debuted in May 2025, achieving the best debut for Tynion in years, and would go on to sell 700,000 issues to date.

Partnering up for Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer is writer Che Grayson of Absolute Catwoman fame and artist Adam Gorham, known for Marvel's Infernal Hulk and the aforementioned The Silver Coin. Also collaborating with the duo are Eisner Award-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire, known for Redlands, and Radiant Black letterer Becca Carey.

Grayson has expressed how passionate they were for the project, especially for the task of expanding on the character of Fox Mask Killer, whom they cite as a personal favorite.

From the moment James and Michael welcomed me into the world of Exquisite Corpses, I knew it was something special. I gravitated instantly to Fox Mask Killer, a character whose design alone provoked a rich backstory and undeniable aura. The biggest treat for me as a writer was the challenge of bringing depth to a character whose face readers would never see…until now. With this new limited series, the mask finally comes off, and I couldn’t be more excited to team up again with my best mate Adam alongside stellar talents Jordie and Becca. This is a dream project for me and I think fans of Fox Mask Killer and the Exquisite Corpses series are going to be very happy with the high stakes and even higher emotions thrill ride we have her on.

Gorham recalls first collaborating with Grayson on an issue from "Season One" of the main Exquisite Corpses series that put Fox Mask Killer and fellow assassin Lady Carolina in the spotlight. He says that he knew in an instant that these were characters worth expanding on.

With the release of the debut issue of Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer, there will also come many special variant covers from popular artists like Annie Wu, Ito, Mike Huddleston, and Inhyuk Lee. Gorham and Walsh will also contribute their own designs, the latter of which will be paired with a collectible trading card tied to the crowdfunded Exquisite Corpses: The Game.

There is even more to expect from the Exquisite Corpses franchise beyond the Fox Mask Killer and Rascal Randy spin-offs. Absolute: Green Arrow writer Pornsak Pichetshote and artist Alberto Ponticelli are teaming up for Exquisite Corpses: Lone Gunman, an anthology one-shot called Exquisite Corpses: Book of the Dead is coming out before Exquisite Corpses Season Two releases, and a feature film adaptation is already in the works.

Exquisite Corpses: Fox Mask Killer #1 hits the shelves on Sept. 16, 2026.
