With X-Men '97 Season 2 right around the corner, fans are waiting with bated breath to see if Gambit will make an appearance in Season 2 after having an iconic death scene in the first season. Marvel certainly knows that fans are really pumped about Gambit right now, so Gambit's co-creator, Chris Claremont, is debuting a brand-new Gambit miniseries next month titled Gambit: Wanted.
It is set in that weird period where Gambit was hanging out with a de-aged Storm, and Gambit and Storm joined up with some other mutants to form a ragtag version of the X-Men following the team's breakup in Australia (the team included Forge and Banshee, two mutant heroes who set out to find the missing X-Men).
This follows Claremont's 2022 Gambit series, which was set in the VERY early days of Gambit and Storm's friendship. CBR has an exclusive first look at four pages from the first issue of Gambit: Wanted from artist Robert Gill, including two pages featuring the Cajun mutant taking on an iconic Daredevil villain!

What Happens in the Gambit: Wanted First Look Pages?
In the first look pages, we first see Gambit in a dramatic pose against an alleyway wall...
You'll notice that there is mention of O.N.E., the Office of National Emergency. O.N.E. played a major role in the X-Men book after the so-called "Decimation" (when the Scarlet Witch removed the mutant genes from millions of mutants at once), and here, it appears as though Claremont is examining the early days of the organization (it was Claremont himself who introduced the organization in 2005's Decimation: House of M - The Day After #1, with art by Randy Green and Aaron Lopresti).
Next, we see Gambit appearing to visit New Orleans during Mardi Gras...
Next, we see Gambit attacked by the aforementioned major Daredevil villain, Bullseye. Gambit famously had a conflict with the Assassin's Guild when he was growing up (as he was part of the Thieves' Guild), so it is interesting to see him faced off against one of the most famous assassins in the Marvel Universe...
And finally, we see Gill draw an awesome-looking confrontation between Gambit and Bullseye...
