Prime Video's Invincible adaptation has successfully scaled into being a global superhero franchise powerful enough to rival The Boys in popularity. Inspired by the hit animated series, Invincible's next big release is officially coming this summer in the form of a licensed tabletop role-playing game for fans to enjoy: Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying.
The upcoming Invincible TTRPG is confirmed for release at retail locations starting July 30 per Free League Publishing's official site. For fans who found themselves without an action-packed animated superhero series on par with Invincible to watch after Season 4 ended in April, Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying offers a unique way to reconnect with the series through a fun role-playing experience designed to immerse players in the comic franchise's thrilling universe.
Invincible Officially Drops a New Tabletop Role-Playing Game in July
Free League describes the game: “Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying is a superhero tabletop roleplaying game based on the groundbreaking comic book Invincible by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, also adapted as an animated series on Prime Video. In this action-packed storytelling experience, you and your friends take on the role of superheroes in your own corner of the Invincible universe – or any superhero setting of your own choosing.”
The new game is part of a collection of products that can be purchased via pledges to the game's official kickstarter campaign on the Free League site. The various products and bundles, ranging in price between about $25.85 (kr248) and $208.29 (kr1,998), provide players with many different entry points for enjoying the game. A download of the quickstart pack for the game is also available on the site.
Per Free League's official site, this new release “Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying is based on the acclaimed Year Zero Engine game mechanics, adapted to Invincible’s grounded and visceral take on the superhero genre. Using only six-sided dice, the game rules are intuitive and easy to follow, while supporting the kind of high-powered yet sometimes very deadly action and drama as seen in the pages of Invincible.”
Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying has the potential to improve on the Invincible franchise's existing gaming catalog. Invincible VS and Invincible: Guarding the Globe have helped pave the way for the upcoming release. The 3v3 gameplay in the Invincible VS fighting game, developed by Quarter Up and published by Skybound Games, leans into the story's gory violence. Invincible VS currently maintains Mostly Positive reviews on Steam, with the standard edition of the game available for $49.99 and the deluxe edition priced at $69.99.
There's also Invincible: Guarding the Globe, an idle mobile gacha game developed by Ubisoft and Skybound Games and released in 2024. With over one million downloads on the Google Play Store, where it maintains a 4.5 out of 5-star rating, Invincible's mobile game is clearly a hit with players.
For anyone already enjoying Invincible's beloved franchise, the new Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying is a new way to enjoy the story using a hands-on roleplaying experience starting next month.
