Marvel Officially Reveals Spider-Man Villain's Redesign Before The Hero's Next MCU Appearance

Marvel fans cannot wait to see Spider-Man return to the big screen this summer. Tom Holland is back in the old red and blues to reign in a new era for Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In the meantime, while they wait for the film's July 31 release, Spider-Friends can check out the webslinger's latest adventures in the medium where he debuted. The most recent issue of The Amazing Spider-Man also presents a new look for the iconic villain, Vulture.

The Amazing Spider-Man Debuts A Whole New Vulture Appearance

Writer Joe Kelly's The Amazing Spider-Man #31 officially reveals the twisted redesign for the classic Spidey rogue, otherwise known as Adrian Toomes. It is not much of a stretch to say that the Vulture has never looked scarier than in this current iteration.

The winged criminal dons a beaked, chromed helmet that matches what appears to be a flight suit for more precise aerial battles with the friendly neighborhood hero, which calls to mind Academy Award nominee Michael Keaton's portrayal of Vulture in the 2017 film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. The new high-tech equipment is complete with long, razor-sharp blades that protrude from the device in a way that adds a certain lethal quality to his feathered wings.

Metal Vulture attacks Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man

The new Vulture costume was previously teased in late April when Marvel released a preview of the cover art for The Amazing Spider-Man #32. The image, designed by the series' main artist Patrick Kelly, keeps Toomes' face hidden behind a masked Peter Parker with his Spider-Sense going wild, but does provide a clear shot of the bladed wings.

What initially brings Toomes face-to-face with Peter Parker in the new comic is when the superhero interrupts a gathering of his rogues gallery at the Blood Market, where criminals battle for possession of valuable items. Spidey, still reeling from the recent death of his longtime enemy, Herman "Shocker" Schultz, enters the scene to retrieve his electrified gauntlets.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Is The Hero's MCU Reset

It is unconfirmed whether or not Michael Keaton's Vulture appears in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, there is plenty for fans of the MCU's version of the webslinger to look forward to seeing.

Destin Daniel Cretton, helmer of 2021's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, inherits directorial duties from the Home Trilogy's director Jon Watts for a film that checks in on Peter Parker's new life after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. That blockbuster saw the young hero choose to make his vigilante identity a secret to the entire world, reversing a spell that threatened the Multiverse, but also costing him his relationship with his loved ones.

Tom Holland reunites with his real-life spouse Zendaya as Michell "MJ" Jones-Watson, along with his real-life friend Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds. Other familiar faces confirmed to appear include Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Jon Bernthal as Frank "The Punisher" Castle, and Better Call Saul's Michael Mando reprising his post-credit Spider-Man: Homecoming cameo as Scorpion.

Newcomers to the franchise include Stranger Things star Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role that has inspired much speculation, with some suspecting she is Jean Grey and others expecting Firestar. Emmy Award-winning Severance star Trammell Tillman was recently confirmed to be playing an X-Men villain named William Metzger, and Marvin Jones III reprises his Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse role as Lonnie "Tombstone" Lincoln in live-action.
