Marvel's Moon Knight is suiting up for a new adventure, and his manga-inspired costume is nothing short of legendary. He will team up with none other than Iron Heart for a new shōnen-inspired adventure.

Marvel revealed new details for Iron Knight #1, which will be released on Sept. 9, 2026. Written by Cody Ziglar and featuring art by Kei Zama, the new one-shot is part of Marvel's upcoming celebration for the 25th anniversary of its manga-inspired universe. Things kick off on Sept. 3 with the return to the Mangaverse in Web of Blood #1 starring Miles Morales, Laura Kinney and Magik, before Moon Knight and Ironheart team up for their own story in Iron Knight #1.

Marvel Officially Reveals Moon Knight's New Manga-Inspired Design

Cover art for Marvel Mangaverse: Iron Knight #1 shows Moon Knight looking rather fashionable in an all-white suit with gold accessories. The most striking part of his new design is a white turban that covers his eyes and takes on a perfectly round shape, complete with a golden moon accent. Overall, it's a surprisingly stylish and thought-out look for the character from head to toe — with even Moon Knight's shoes featuring a signature gold bottom.

Moon Knight's story with Iron Heart will pick up shortly after the events of Web of Blood, which marks both the return and potential end to Marvel's manga universe. The publisher teased that "a looming apocalypse threatens to end the world in a sea of flames", though heroes like Miles Morales, Laura Kinney, and Illyana Rasputin are trying to hold everything together.

Ziglar and Zama's Iron Knight one-shot turns the focus to the city of Chicago, where Riri Williams protects the streets as Ironheart in her mana-powered suit of armor. Marvel's solicit teases: "After losing a close friend, Riri finds herself traveling down a dangerous path of vengeance alongside the legendary sorcerer known as Moon Knight in Marvel Mangaverse: Iron Knight #1, a shōnen-inspired and action-packed one-shot."

Three more Mangaverse stories will follow throughout September, with Arcane Avengers being the follow-up to Iron Knight. Marvel's new Avengers team will be a reluctant group of sorcerers led by none other than the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, with team members including Bloodline and Wiccan.

The fourth Mangaverse story will be Ghostlocke, which sees its titular character teaming up with her Shinigami bike and taking on Cletus Kasady (Carnage). Lastly, Web of Destiny will wrap the new Mangaverse saga up, with Miles, Laura, and Illyana once again returning to the spotlight for an epic conclusion.

Marvel's Mangaverse Gets a Modern Update with New Comics Line

Marvel's Mangaverse originally ran from 2000 to 2002, with stories set in an alternate universe that allowed its characters to be portrayed in a manga-like art style. A sequel, New Mangaverse, followed in 2006, and Marvel has continued to explore several of its iconic characters — from X-Men to Spider-Man and The Punisher — over the years.

The new Mangaverse storyline will give a modern refresh to some of the characters fans will already be familiar with. Yuji Kaku, who previously worked on artwork for Phases of the Moon Knight, returned to handle the cover art for all five Mangaverse issues.

"It is a true honor to draw so many Marvel characters that I grew up reading," Yuji Kaku shared in Marvel's press release for the new Mangaverse titles. "I challenged myself to merge Western comic and Japanese manga styles by capturing the core essence of both. It was a rigorous task, but incredibly exciting. I hope you all enjoy my designs!"

Marvel Mangaverse: Iron Knight #1 goes on sale Sept. 9. from Marvel Comics.
