Marvel Reveals Two Gambits Ahead of X-Men '97 Season 2

One thing is for certain and two things are for sure. X-Men '97 is gearing up to blow everyone's minds in Season 2 with the Age of Apocalypse storyline, a major part of the success of Season 1 was tied to Gambit, and Marvel fans are craving more from Remy LeBeau.

Unfortunately, save for either a flashback from Rogue and the X-Men or, equally likely, a Gambit variant appearing in a separate timeline as Professor Xavier's group battles Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur) across time, fans might not get another dose of the Cajun in X-Men '97.

But Marvel Comics has a treat that should curb those cravings with Gambit: Gone.

Gambit Is Back in 2026 — Two of Them — Ahead of X-Men '97

There's no shortage of Gambits throwing their cards and charisma around Marvel Comics these days, with Aoudino and Sandoval both responsible for bringing about one of them for Gambit: Gone, a five-parter inspired by not just X-Men '97 — set to return on July 1— but also the X-Men of Apocalypse, a/the other Age of Apocalypse anniversary ride.

Gambit: Gone twists the story of two different Remy LeBeau's together in a double helix of action and suspense.

"Following up on the ending of Jeph Loeb and Simone Di Meo’s X-Men of Apocalypse took me off-guard in the best way!" Orlando said in the official press release, via PopVerse. "I was lucky enough to work with the Cajun in X-Men Infinity — and we got on famously. The charisma, the pot-stirring, the swagger and confidence enlivened every scene he was in!"

He continued: "For me, it's been that way since I first met him in 1992. So to find out we'd have not one, but TWO Gambits, well...I just had to roll the dice."

Actually, Marvel Is Unveiling More than Two Gambits

The death of Gambit in X-Men '97 was objectively devastating, particularly when factoring in the fact he sacrificed himself for a version of Rogue that broke his heart by having a secret relationship with Magneto (and they even ballroom-danced in his face, no less).

His relationship with her has never been without its challenges, and they'll give it another go when Marvel Comics and Random House Worlds release Rogue x Gambit (An X-Men Love Story), a graphic novel that declares "Rogue and Gambit must work together to save New Orleans from destruction—as long as their complicated feelings for each other don't destroy them first".

Set for release on Feb. 9, 2027, Rogue x Gambit (An X-Men Love Story) means there will be a total of four Gambits in play over the next several months, but hopefully there will be a fifth when Season 2 of X-Men '97 hits Disney+ on Independence Day Weekend.
