Marvel Reveals WandaVision Spiritual Sequel Before Avengers: Doomsday

With Avengers: Doomsday speeding toward us all, there is still a looming question if Wanda Maximoff will make her return to the screen following her self-sacrifice in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Yes, it's been roughly a half-decade since Elizabeth Olsen has blessed screens as the Scarlet Witch, but Marvel Comics just cooked up something special for her.

The follow-up to 2021's WandaVision is on the way in the live-action space, namely, Vision Quest, starring Paul Bettany in his reprisal of Vision, but that's not scheduled to arrive until October 2026, so feel free to dive into the next great comic book story for the Scarlet Witch as she squares off once again against a familiar foe that Disney+ fans will also recognize quite readily.

The cosmic clash happens by way of Sorcerer Supreme Vol. 1: Rise Of The Scarlet Witch, a series written by Steve Orlando that you'll likely want to tap into pronto — after enjoying the animated version of the Scarlet Witch in Disney+'s Marvel Zombies, of course.

Wanda Maximoff Returns as Scarlet Witch vs. Agatha for Sorcerer Supreme

Per the synopsis: "In the aftermath of ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM, a new power rises. One willing to defy tradition, break every rule and chart a bold new path. Wanda Maximoff has been many things: a mother, an Avenger and the Scarlet Witch. But in the wake of Victor Von Doom’s fall, Wanda has claimed a new title: Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. But the Vishanti aren’t happy, and they have anointed a champion of their own: none other than Wanda’s former magical mentor, Agatha Harkness!"

It continues: "After a fiery confrontation between them, Wanda wakes up in Limbo — and nothing is as it seems. And if she’s going to escape, she must first defeat its ruler: Maddie Pryor! Meanwhile, with the Vishanti distracted by the battle over Earth, what rising threats have escaped their notice?"

It has to be said this would be an intriguing storyline if it, in any way, were to make its way into the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, but one can only hope. Just as one can only hope for another live-action clash between the Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness.

Will There Be a Season 2 of Marvel's Agatha All Along?

While the world waits to see if Disney and Marvel will ever move forward on Season 2 of 2024's Agatha All Along — there are currently no plans for one, fyi —fans can at least head to Marvel Comics to see the next battle between the two sorceresses unfold in Sorcerer Supreme Vol. 1: Rise Of The Scarlet Witch.

Per the official release: "SCARLET WITCH: SORCERESS SUPREME! After rescuing the Cloak of Levitation and the Eye of Agamotto from the ashes of Doom's fall, the SCARLET WITCH has chosen to claim a new title: SORCERER SUPREME OF EARTH! Wanda is willing to defy tradition, break every rule and chart a bold new path — one that the Vishanti aren't exactly happy about."

The release then adds a twist: "Will this rogue Sorcerer Supreme bring magic in the Marvel Universe to new heights, or leave it in ruin? An all-new series helmed by Steve Orlando with mystifying art from Bernard Chang!"

The last time the two locked spells, it nearly destroyed everything. That might be the case this time around as well, if the Scarlet Witch and Agatha Harkness go all out for the supreme title.
