New Hasbro Energon Universe Release Posts Record-Breaking Sell-Out

Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment's M.A.S.K. #1 has completely sold out, and it is still days away from even making its way into the hands of fans.

Per a press release from Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment, the upcoming M.A.S.K. #1 by writer Dan Watters and artist Pye Parr has sold out at the distributor level just days before its release on June 10. As such, M.A.S.K. #1 will be heading back to the presses for a second printing with two striking new covers by artists Jason Howard and Parr, which readers can see for themselves down below.

What's Been Said About M.A.S.K's Return To Comics So Far

M.A.S.K. writer Dan Watters said of the news, "Thanks so much to everyone who’s preordered and talked about the book for this unimaginable sellout. Welcome to the M.A.S.K. network, one and all!"

Executive Editor Ben Abernathy also opened up about the announcement, stating, "It's insane that #1 sold out so quickly! Dan, Pye, Pierluigi, and Rus delivered a blockbuster inaugural issue, and I'm excited even more people will get to read it."

Artist Pye Parr channeled their own love for the original series in a statement, writing, "I assume V.E.N.O.M.’s latest evil scheme must be to hoover up every issue of M.A.S.K. #1 they can find to appease ancient aliens buried in the desert and retrieve the Staff of Gold - giving Miles Mayhem power over life and death! The upcoming release of M.A.S.K. #1 will mark the beginning of a new era for the Skybound Universe, as another beloved '80s franchise joins the likes of The Transformers and G.I. Joe in protecting this brave new world from any and all who would dare harm it. Fans got an early glimpse at what the new M.A.S.K. series will have to offer in May with the release of the Energon Universe 2026 Special one-shot anthology.

The official solicit synopsis for M.A.S.K. #1 from Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics reads, "The world is becoming a terrifying place. Matt Trakker needs your help saving it. Enter M.A.S.K. — a network of specialists recruited to respond to the next global emergency... But Miles Mayhem and V.E.N.O.M. are one step ahead in a secret arms race, scouring the globe for deadly weapons from this planet and beyond, ready to sell out the entire human race.
