Persepolis Author Marjane Satrapi Passes Away

Marjane Satrapi, the award-winning writer and artist best known for her graphic novel memoir, Persepolis, which she later adapted into an Academy Award-nominated animated film, has passed away at the age of 56.

In a statement sent to France’s AFP newswire by “from close friends and family” announcing her death, “Marjane Satrapi died of sadness a little over a year after the death of Mattias Ripa, her husband and the love of her life." Ripa died in April of last year.
