The original Mighty Morphin team has finally reunited for their next big adventure. Unfortunately, Tommy Oliver is anywhere but the battlefield when his oldest, closest friends need him the most.
When the threat of Rita Rabiosa arises, the eponymous heroes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 (by Marguerite Bennett, Andrew Lee Griffith, Joshua Jensen, and Ed Dukeshire) are quick to band together despite most of them being a decade into their retirement. At least, that is true of everyone save for the original Green Ranger himself, Tommy Oliver, who seemingly heard his fellow Rangers' cry for help and simply chose not to answer it.

The release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 marks the beginning of a whole new era for BOOM! Studios and the Power Rangers franchise. The series stands as the first return to the classic team since the publisher's long-running Power Rangers epic came to a close in 2024, as well as the first in a new trilogy of ongoing comic book titles charting completely different iterations of the Power Rangers universe.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 doesn't just bring the original Mighty Morphin team back together, it also introduces the heir to one of the most infamous legacies in franchise history with the debut of Rita Rabiosa. Although it isn't quite clear exactly what ties Rita Rabiosa shares to Rita Repulsa, it is painfully obvious that the two are inextricably connected.
What To Expect From The Power Rangers' Return From BOOM!
Image via BOOM!The official solicit synopsis for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #1 from BOOM! Studios reads, "A new uniform for a new era! The future is now with this visionary relaunch of the globally acclaimed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. It's been ten years since the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers turned in their Morphers and went their separate ways. But now they've been called back to the legendary Command Center to face a new, terrifying form of a familiar foe: Rita Rabiosa. They may not be teenagers with attitudes anymore, but are they still the same heroes they once were?"
BOOM! Studios' new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series continues to unfold in the months to come. Readers can also look forward to diving into the worlds of Power Rangers Unlimited and Power Rangers: Green in July and August, respectively. While Power Rangers Unlimited will bring iconic heroes from across the franchise's decades-long history together for an interstellar epic, Power Rangers: Green will offer something of a The Last Ronin-style story starring none other than Tommy Oliver himself.
