Clint Eastwood, one of Hollywood’s most recognizable directors and actors, is now officially listed as retired on his Wikipedia page following renewed public attention around his status.
The update was made on May 31, which marked Eastwood’s 96th birthday. The change came after comments from last November by his son, musician Kyle Eastwood, were recirculated from a French television interview. In that previous appearance, Kyle said, “Now he’s retired. He’s 95 years old. But I was very lucky to be able to work with him on quite a few films.”
Eastwood himself has not confirmed retirement and has long avoided the term. Over the years, he repeatedly signaled that he intended to keep working. In a 2021 interview with Parade, he said, “I don’t think so,” when asked about retiring, adding that he enjoys developing stories and making films.

The director’s most recent film, Juror No. 2, was released in 2024. The courtroom drama earned strong reviews and was seen by some critics as a fitting final chapter. The film stars Nicholas Hoult as a juror facing a serious moral conflict. Despite the praise, Warner Bros. Discovery gave the film a limited theatrical release before moving it to streaming, where it performed well as a Max title.
Eastwood kept a low profile during the release. He did not promote the film and did not attend its premiere. That absence drew attention, though few faulted a filmmaker in his mid-90s for stepping back from publicity.

Questions about his future have surfaced before. Producer Robert Lorenz, a longtime collaborator, said in a 2024 interview with Movieweb that Eastwood had suggested he might stop working, only to return again. “I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the last movie,” Lorenz said. “But never say never.”

Confusion around Eastwood’s public comments also surfaced in 2025 after an interview attributed to him appeared in the Austrian outlet Kurier. Eastwood later denied participating. The publication withdrew the piece and admitted it relied on older material presented as new.

For now, there is no formal statement confirming retirement from Eastwood himself. Still, the industry appears to be preparing for the possibility that Juror No. 2 may stand as his final film, whether by design or by circumstance.
