Arnold Schwarzenegger is not slowing down. The longtime action star continues to land major roles years after serving as California governor, and now he is set to headline a new project backed by a major studio.
According to Deadline, Amazon MGM Studios has secured the rights to The Kellys, a new action film that will star Schwarzenegger alongside Liam Hemsworth. The film is being developed for Prime Video, though there is no confirmed production schedule or release date. It is also unclear if the movie will see a theatrical run.

The story centers on Jack Kelly, a disgraced New York City police officer whose wife, Molly, is taken hostage by terrorists inside an aging armory. The crisis forces Kelly to work with people he does not trust, including members of his own family, as he tries to rescue her.
The film will be directed by Brad Peyton, who previously worked on Rampage and San Andreas with Dwayne Johnson. The script comes from Tze Chun, known for his work on Gotham and Once Upon a Time. The rest of the cast has not been announced.

This marks another collaboration between Schwarzenegger and Hemsworth, who previously appeared together in The Expendables 2. Industry observers expect the two actors to share more screen time in this project, which could help drive interest for Prime Video as competition in streaming continues to grow.
Schwarzenegger has remained active in recent years with roles in FUBAR, which was not well received, and multiple entries in the Terminator franchise, most of which were not well received either. His return to another high-profile action role signals that studios still see value in established stars, even old ones, so long as Hollywood faces pressure to deliver reliable streaming hits in a crowded market.
