Full disclosure, I’m a huge fan of whales. I’ve been a fan ever since I was brainwashed by Leonard Nimoy with Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. I found the entire story fascinating as a mysterious probe devastated the earth and our intrepid crew had to travel to the past to find whales that had gone extinct. I was a full-blown whale enthusiast by the time George and Gracie were brought from the past to save the future earth.
I’ve maintained my love and fascination with whales since that movie and still come to their defense, but Whalefall is the first time I’ve ever seen them as frightening. Whalefall is the Austin Abrams, Josh Brolin thriller that puts these gentle giants in a different light.

Here is the plot:
A scuba diver in search of his deceased father’s remains gets swallowed by an 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale and has only one hour to escape before his oxygen runs out. After giving up on life, the young man is surprised to find a reason to live in the most dangerous and unlikely of places.
And this is probably one of the most breathless trailers I’ve seen in a while. It might be my love for whales, but I think you will get a kick out of it as well. Unless you’re claustrophobic.
