Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum confirms the connection between Daredevil: Born Again and the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next Spider-Man film.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly during New York Comic Con, Winderbaum said of the production team on Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, "We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there's coherence there. We don't want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is important."

Winderbaum went on to note that, while he could not discuss any specifics regarding the connections between the two projects, they are most certainly there. "We're in a shared universe together, but I would say just the Daredevil comic books, the Punisher comic books depicted a certain tone and an idea of New York in a different way than Spider-Man's, but they both exist in the same universe." Winderbaum added, "It's similar. Everything lines up and the impacts are felt, but we're able to tell different stories."

Currently set to arrive in theaters on Jul. 31, 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will mark Tom Holland's return to the silver screen as Peter Parker who, thanks to the events of 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, will effectively be stepping into a whole new MCU. Alongside Holland, Spider-Man: Brand New Day features returning MCU stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal as Michelle Jones-Watson, Ned Leeds, Bruce Banner, and Frank Castle, better known as the Punisher. The upcoming Spider-Man film will also mark the return of Michael Mando in the role of Mac Gargan, who will finally take on his infamous comic book moniker of the Scorpion, as well as the introduction of Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln, otherwise known as the villainous Tombstone.

Apart from bringing back Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, Daredevil himself, Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will see fan-favorite Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter return in a reprisal of her iconic superpowered vigilante. Ritter's return will mark the third of Netflix's Defenders to make their way into the MCU proper following Cox and Bernthal's Daredevil and Punisher, and could very well pave the way for the returns of further Marvel Television heroes from the Netflix era of streaming shows. Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will also see Vincent D'Onofrio step back into the role of Wilson Fisk, who will have some serious competition ahead of him aside from the titular hero. Specifically, Fisk will be facing off against Matthew Lillard's Mr. Charles, an enigmatic yet powerful figure who seems especially interested in ensuring the Kingpin's downfall.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently available for streaming on Disney+. Season 2 premieres in March 2026.
