Industry icon and producer of The Defenders line of streaming series Jeph Loeb teases a Marvel Cinematic Universe reunion for Netflix's greatest super team.

Per GamesRadar, Loeb touched on his time working with Netflix and Marvel Television on the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the rest of The Defenders line of streaming series. Apart from singing the praises of the creative teams behind each series, Loeb teased a potential return for the rest of The Defenders following the success of Disney+'s Daredevil revival series, Daredevil: Born Again, noting that "There are always more stories to tell."

Regarding the success of Daredevil: Born Again in and of itself, Loeb stated, "I'm very happy for all my friends – actors, writers, directors, stunt folks, crew and everybody else who worked on all those shows and killed it – that they get to continue to honor those roles. I'm not sure if anything like that has happened before – particularly on two different networks." Loeb added, "One thing that I'd love to clear up – while it's an easy shorthand to call them the 'Netflix' heroes – the plain truth is Netflix was our network. They aired the shows that then Marvel Television created, produced, wrote, cast, shot, edited, scored, etc. – hours and hours of some of the most brilliant people who worked on those shows for Marvel TV."

Netflix's lineup of Marvel Television series began with 2015's Daredevil, which introduced Charlie Cox's iteration of the iconic Marvel Comics superhero. That same year, Jessica Jones starring Krysten Ritter premiered on Netflix, setting up the beginnings of one of the biggest television crossovers to date. The first two series were followed by the premieres of Luke Cage starring Mike Colter and Iron Fist starring Finn Jones in 2016 and 2017, respectively. The overarching narrative tying these shows together was effectively concluded with the release of The Defenders in 2017, with The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal arriving just months later as the final Marvel Television show produced for Netflix.

With the upcoming premiere of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 in March, fans of Netflix's The Defenders can look forward to another of the series' stars stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Charlie Cox's Daredevil, specifically Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones. While Ritter's return marks the third star from a Netflix/Marvel Television series to make their way into the MCU proper after Cox's Matt Murdock and Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle, she may not be the last to do so. Luke Cage star Mike Colter stated that, while he doesn't "think about it anymore," he is still open to the idea of returning to the role of Luke Cage. "I think there's always time. I don't think it's impossible. Anything can happen," Colter added.
